🧩 Special Needs & Special Education Homeschooling in Minnesota
What Minnesota offers homeschool families of children with disabilities or learning differences — special-needs scholarships, evaluations and services — from our Minnesota guide and articles.
Sports, activities, shared time and special education
Special education: under Minn. Stat. 125A.18, a resident who is eligible for special instruction and services may not be denied them on a shared-time basis because the student attends a nonpublic school. The district decides where services are provided, student by student, consistent with federal law (126C.19, subd. 4), and must provide transportation within the district for a student with a disability whose nonpublic school is in the district. The statute gives parties serving students on a shared-time basis access to the federal due process hearing and complaint systems. Contact your district's special education office to request an evaluation or services.
